By exposing youths and students of music to this timeless genre of music history we can help create an atmosphere of expression that is both positive and educational.
Other programs have already proven that music participation as an addendum to curriculum improves math scores and social interaction. IJI was established not only to promote Jazz as an art form but also to provide venues through education, participation and promotion. This will unite communities, academic institutions and our youth in a goal-oriented atmosphere of fun, fellowship and musical expression.
Jazz is a part of our American culture that the entire world has embraced. It is the belief of IJI that Jazz is truly a part of our history worth preserving. That is why we are committed to working together with venues that present Jazz, allowing them to use us as a resource for free promotion for their events.
We are continuously working on membership development. One of the immediate goals this fall is to bring jazz to the schools. We are putting the finishing touches on the line-up for the 2009 - 2010 Concert series.
IJI is currently working with local jazz venues and music stores to provide its members with discounts, thus making it easier for jazz fans to have access to jazz music, instruments and lessons.
We are committed to presenting world-class jazz musicians throughout the state of Indiana. Join us in our quest to save Jazz; we are seeking corporate sponsorship and memberships to assist in bringing this initiative to the entire state of Indiana.
